By the middle of the 21st Century at least half of all the ten billion of us will live in urban areas, most of which are not prepared to cope with such growth.
The Sustainable Urban Living Institute US (SULIUS) seeks to test modes of planning, construction, manufacturing, maintenance, distribution, equity and other aspects of urban life and to support projects designed to assess scientifically the likelihood that economic activities can be sustained into the future without damage to their inhabitants, their cities, or the environment.
To that end, we host symposia that sponsor the study of innovative private and public activities designed to provide goods and services in ways that can be operated continuously. We work with businesses and agencies to develop best practices appropriate to their goals, always aware that each of our personal freedoms is constrained by the presence of others, whose personal rights are equal to our own, and of the larger society, which must keep our activities in balance with neighbors and nature.
Steps Forward The direction this website will take is up to its users. Please register and participate. We're committed to a multilingual perspective; we currently (2022) can support English and Spanish, but messaging in other languages is welcome. El Instituto de Vida Urbana Sostenible EEUU (siglas ingleses SULIUS) busca probar modos de planificación, construcción, fabricación, mantenimiento, distribución, equidad y otros aspectos de la vida urbana y apoyar proyectos diseñados para evaluar científicamente la probabilidad de que las actividades económicas puedan sostenerse en el futuro sin daños a sus habitantes, a sus ciudades o al medio ambiente.
Con ese fin, organizamos simposios que patrocinan el estudio de actividades públicas y privadas innovadoras diseñadas para proporcionar bienes y servicios de manera que puedan operarse continuamente. Trabajamos con empresas y agencias para desarrollar las mejores prácticas adecuadas a sus objetivos, siempre conscientes de que cada una de nuestras libertades personales está constreñida por la presencia de otros, cuyos derechos personales son iguales a los nuestros, y de la sociedad en general, que debe mantener nuestros actividades en equilibrio con los vecinos y la naturaleza.

All are focused on small, family or neighborhood scale business that keeps money circulating locally and supporting continuous renewal.
